UPTOWN announces the sale of its portfolio member, a traditional producer of the solid-state, fire-fighting sprinkler systems, the SHARK Company. SHARK was acquired in 2006 and ever since became one of the top 3 sprinkler system suppliers to the Czech market. Unfortunately, the recent recession in construction industry had a strong impact on firm's and investor's long-term strategic plan, and was decided to offer the acquisition up for sale and also terminate all investment activities in construction in general. The history of the company dates back to 1939, when the plant was acquired by a Berlin based company Lorenc AG, later it became part of TESLA Vrchlabi, s.p. (state owned company) and in 1995 successfully privatized. The company is located in Vrchlabi, Czech Republic, and was acquired from its original owners in August 2008.
